"Not really, I just returned him the wallet that he had dropped on the road," his answer to the guard.
He smiled at him. "You're a very honest young boy, so that's why he trusted you inside our subdivision," he said and opened the big gate for Lawrence.
"Thank you so much," excitedly Lawrence told him and started pedaling going inside the subdivision. And not long, rich young children started calling him to the side of their gates and bought ice creams from him. He's branded ice creams in cups and cones sold fast. Lawrence was so happy, he didn't remember selling that much in such a short time. He was about to leave the subdivision when suddenly someone went out of a big gate and called out for him.
"Ice cream!" the young girl called out aloud.
Lawrence turned his head back as he was pedaling going to the subdivision gate. He saw the young girl standing and looking at him. He turned his car around and pedaled towards her. When he reached her she immediately spoke.
"I want to buy an ice cream," the beautiful young girl told him.
Lawrence smiled at her and pulled up the cart's cover. After the girl told him what kind of ice cream she wanted, Lawrence bended from where he was sitting to get one. "Here," he said giving her the ice cream.
The girl then took it from him and ripped the top cover of the ice cream in cone. She immediately tasted it and seemed to like it. "This is really delicious," she just said.
"Yeah it is," Lawrence replied looking at her from where he was sitting.
"Hey how did you get in here, they don't normally allow vendors in our subdivision?" she asked him.
Lawrence explained and the girl smiled at him. Her smile is really pretty, Lawrence thought. He smiled back at here. And her smile widened a little.
"You’re an honest young boy," she just said looking up at him, "and very hardworking."
"I have to, my father have been sick for a long time now. So I have to work for the two of us for food and for school," he told her.
"That's good to know," she uttered looking at his face. "You're cute," she told him.
"Thanks," he replied. "You're pretty and cute yourself," he said smiling back at her.
The two continued chatting while the beautiful young girl was slowly eating her cream. Lawrence introduced himself to him and Christine introduced herself to him. In just a short time of conversation, the two became friends. She asked him to go back to their subdivision so she could buy once again. He immediately agreed smiling her. After the beautiful young girl had gone back inside their house, Lawrence pedaled once again and left the subdivision.
And everyday Lawrence would go to the subdivision to sell ice cream and every time Christine would buy from him. And they became closer and closer, everyday wanting to see each other. One day Lawrence went back to sell ice cream on their subdivision, many children bought from Lawrence once again. Christine did not come out even if he had already ringed his bell several times. He waited some more but still she did not come out. He went back the following day to sell and see her but once again he did not see her. He went back to the subdivision almost every day for a week to sell but still he did not see her. He asked the maid who he saw throwing trash outside their gate but she just looked at him for a moment and went back inside Christine's house. Sadly, Lawrence went home.
Lawrence once again left his home to sell ice cream on the road. He pedaled and pedaled for some time and saw a big house. It was the only house on that road. He approached its gate and rang his bell to call the attention of the people inside. Shortly, a man went out and immediately told him that he didn't want to buy ice cream and told him to leave immediately. The man then hurriedly closed the gate and left him. So Lawrence had no choice but to leave the place. He turned his ice cream cart and started pedaling away from the house. He bent his head to see what time it was from his wristwatch. But as he bent his head he saw something on the ground, something he thought he had already seen. It was a bag. Hurriedly, he got off his cart and approached to pick it up. And just like what he thought it was Christine's bag. When he searched the pocket, Lawrence saw Christine's wallet. He saw her picture on it after her opened it. Wondering a little how it landed there, he looked back at the house. He stared at it for a moment and decided to head to the subdivision and returned the wallet to Christine hoping that he would found her that day.
When he got inside the subdivision he immediately hurried to Christine's house. He rang the door bell and a tall handsome elderly man opened and looked at Lawrence.
"What is it?" he asked Lawrence.
"I found Christine's expensive bag," he said extending his hand holding the wallet to him.
The man immediately took the bag from him and looked inside it. "Where did you find this?" he asked suddenly.
And Lawrence told him where he found it. After the man thanked him he hurriedly went back inside their house. Lawrence waited a little still hoping to see Christine. But once again she did not come out of their gate.
Lawrence then left the subdivision and went home.

                                                     Chapter 2

A week later Lawrence was called to the principal's office. He went and after she made him sat in front of him, she told her that someone had given him a full scholarship. He could finish high school and college on any course of his choosing at the same university all for free. Lawrence didn't know what to say to the principal, he was so happy and almost in tears. And he just heard himself saying thank you to her.
But the principal told him that he shouldn't thank her. He should thank his rich and kind sponsor instead. She asked him to go with her to the house of his scholarship sponsor. Grateful, Lawrence agreed. She boarded him on his car, drove and left the university.
Suddenly, Lawrence realized they were heading to Christine's subdivision. He glanced at the principal besides her wondering. The guard immediately opened the gate for them. The car went through and continued moving inside the subdivision. The car stopped right in front of Christine's house. Lawrence glanced back at the principal. She just smiled at him noticing him. She then opened the door and went down. Lawrence followed. The maid opened the gate and asked them to follow. She walked the two going to the living room. And to Lawrence surprise, he saw Christine smiling at him. She was standing beside the tall elderly man he talked one day. The elderly man too smiled at Lawrence. Lawrence smiled at Christine and to the elderly man beside him.
"Christine," Lawrence called her name looking at her.
"Lawrence," she just said grinning at him.
The principal then spoke looking at Lawrence by her side. "This is Mr. Donald Harrison, your scholarship sponsor Lawrence."
"He is," Lawrence just said. And then he just heard himself say thank you to him.
"No son, I should thank you instead," he said smiling and gently patted his shoulder. He then made him and the principal sat with them on the sofa. After all of them were seated, the elderly man continued speaking.
"Thank you so much Lawrence, because of you I got my daughter back."
Surprised, Lawrence glanced at Christine by the man's side. She smiled at him. The man continued. "Because of you, we found the place where Christine's kidnappers were keeping her. We really lost hope, but then you came and returned her wallet and told me where you found it. I called the police and immediately they made their rescue plans. And they were successful; Christine is back with us without having to pay the million of money they were asking for her ransom."
"Thank you Lawrence," Christine finally said to Lawrence smiling at him.
Lawrence didn't know what to say but just heard him saying you’re welcome to her. Mr. Harrison and the principal smiled at the two children smiling and looking at each other.
Two years later, Lawrence finished high school and after five years he finished Business Management Course at the university. And when he thought he was ready, he proposed to Christine, his college girlfriend. She immediately accepted. And after two years, Lawrence rushed to the hospital to see Christine and their first born child.
"It's a boy,” Christine told him looking at him.
"Yeah it is," Lawrence said and immediately hugged his son kissing him gently on the cheeks. He then sat beside Christine on the bed she was laying. "Thank you Christine..." he said softly looking at her.
"No, thank you Lawrence," she said and smiled at him.
